The University of Perpetual Help System Laguna (UPHSL) Embarks on Internationalization Efforts at the 5th NUTRICON 2023 in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: The University of Perpetual Help System Laguna (UPHSL) has taken a significant stride towards internationalization as its official delegation touched down in Kuala Lumpur to participate in the 5th Nutrition, Health, and Lifestyle Conference 2023. Organized by the International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM), this global event has gathered a diverse assembly of 110 physical and virtual participants hailing from over 20 countries, showcasing UPHSL's dedication to fostering global collaboration.


Themed "New Challenges and Future Perspectives in Nutrition and Sustainable Food in the Post- Pandemic and Climate Change Era," the conference has provided a vibrant platform for scholars and experts to deliberate on pressing issues that affect global health and well-being. From August 3-4, the Swiss Garden Hotel has become a melting pot of innovative ideas and collaborative discussions aimed at shaping a healthier, more sustainable future.

A notable highlight of UPHSL's participation is the presentation of a paper by Mrs. Olivia J. Factoriza, a distinguished faculty member specializing in Nutrition and Dietetics. On August 4, she will share insights from a collaborative study titled "Health-Related Quality of Life of Medical Frontliners in a Philippine Private Hospital," highlighting the university's commitment to addressing critical health concerns.

Moreover, UPHSL's engagement extends beyond presentations, with Dr. Antonio R. Yango, Dean of College of Arts and Science, Dr. Nonet A. Cuy, College of Arts and Sciences Professor, and Dr. Leomar S. Galicia,Research Director contributing as conference evaluators for parallel sessions covering a diverse range of research topics. Their involvement underscores UPHSL's dedication to robust scholarly engagement and fostering interdisciplinary dialogues.

During the conference's opening ceremonies, UPHSL received formal recognition as one of TIIKM's esteemed academic partners. Dr. Leomar S. Galicia, representing the institution, proudly accepted a wooden plaque of acknowledgement, marking a significant milestone in UPHSL's global outreach efforts.

Looking forward, UPHSL is forging even stronger ties for global academic collaboration. Dr. Galicia, in his role as the university's Research Director, has initiated discussions for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with TIIKM, with plans to solidify this partnership at the upcoming conference scheduled to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, in 2024.
