CHED Retains Autonomous Status for University of Perpetual Help System Laguna (UPHSL) and UPH-Dr. Jose G. Tamayo Medical University

In a recent decision, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has reaffirmed the Autonomous status of the University of Perpetual Help System Laguna (UPHSL) and UPH- Dr. Jose G. Tamayo Medical University with validity period of three (3) years from September 16, 2024 to September 15, 2027, recognizing its commitment to quality and excellence in education. With the rapid advancements in higher education and the Commission's new policies on program and institutional quality and quality assurance, it is necessary that the assessments made to UPHSL are excellent beyond minimum quality standards and that the outcomes are still relevant to the current landscape.


The grant of autonomous status proves that UPHSL keeps itself attuned to global quality assurance, recognition, and accreditation. It adopted a contemporary lens to level off quality indicators with local and global higher education advancements while considering the natural evolution of concepts through practice. The university's dedication to providing top-notch education has been acknowledged not only locally but also on the international stage. As the university retains its autonomous status, it stands poised to continue its mission of shaping future leaders and contributing to advancing education in the Philippines and beyond.
