Students Outcomes

Graduates of the BEEd and BSEd programs are teachers who:

  • Have the basic and higher level of literacy, communication, numeracy, critical thinking, learning skills needed for higher learning;
  • Have deep and principled understanding of the learning processes and the role of the teacher in facilitating these processes in their students.
  • Have deep and principled understanding of educational processes and its relationship to larger historical, social, cultural, and political processes;
  • Have meaningful and comprehensive knowledge of the subject matter they will teach;
  • Can apply wide range of teaching process and skills (including curriculum development, lesson planning, materials development, educational assessment, and teaching approaches);
  • Have direct experience in the field/classroom (e.g., classroom observations, teaching assistance, practice teaching);
  • Can demonstrate and practice professional and ethical requirements of the teaching profession;
  • Can facilitate learning of diverse types of learners, in diverse types of learning environment, using wide range of teaching knowledge and skills.
  • Can reflect on the relationships among the teaching process, skills, the nature of the content/subject matter, and the broader social forces encumbering the school and educational processes in order to constantly improve their teaching knowledge, skills and practices.
  • Can be creative and innovative in thinking of alternative teaching approaches, take informed risks in tying out these innovative approaches, and evaluate the effectiveness of such approaches in improving student learning ; and
  • Are willing and capable to continue learning in order to fulfil their mission as teachers.

Graduates of Bachelor of Library and Information Science posses the fllowing knowledge and abilities:

  • Select, evaluate, organize orally and in writing at the same time orally and in a manner that best enables the message to be understood.
  • Effectively communicate orally and in writing at the same time orally and in a manner that best enables the message to be understood.
  • Demonstrate logical and systematic approaches to the accomplishment of tasks.
  • Formulate objectives, policies and processes as well as design and manage resources in anticipation of future educational or organizational changes.
  • Recognize, analyze and constructively solve problems, provide appropriate direction and assistance and overcome barriers when necessary.
  • identify user's needs and wants through reference interviews, customer surveys, complaint logs and other means in order to evaluate the effectiveness of current services and improve these and other practices.
  • Work well in groups and seek ways to build team efforts to solve problems and achieve common goals.
  • Understand library's automation systems and the use of computer hardware, software and peripherals, including online collaboration tools( INternet, www and the social networking sites)
  • Develop information technology solutions (e.g. libray automation system, website, e-mail system, etc.)
  • Conduct significant research projects that will benefit
