In a virtual election held last February 18, 2021, UPHSL College of Maritime Dean Capt. Ruszell Apachecha was elected as Executive Vice President of Philippine Association of Maritime Institutions (PAMI). The election was held during PAMI’s 46th Annual Convention and General Membership Assembly. Aside from being elected as PAMI’s Executive Vice President, Capt. Apachecha was also unanimously elected as a member of PAMI’s Board of Trustees and will serve the association for two years from 2021 to 2023.
The Philippine Association of Maritime Institutions (PAMI) envisions itself as indispensable partners of the maritime industry in developing leaders. Thus, the organization aims to develop data-driven educational and professional program initiatives for maritime leaders and actively participate in setting national and international academic standards through strong linkages.
In an exclusive interview, Capt. Apachecha said that he felt honored to be elected for the position because there are Seventy-Five institutions gathered together battling for Fifteen (15) available positions. Dean/Capt. Apachecha said that he is very happy with the result of the elections for this is the first time for the university to occupy positions in PAMI. Thus, Capt Apachecha expressed his gratitude to UPHSL's Executive Director Dr. Ferdinand C Somido and Admiral Wilfredo Tamayo for the unwavering support.
