Safeguarding Clean Water for All: UPHSL’s Commitment to Sustainable Water Management and the Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004
In committing to “The Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004 (Republic Act No. 9275)” aims to protect the country’s water bodies from pollution from land-based sources (industries and commercial establishments, agriculture and community/household activities), The University of Perpetual Help System Laguna ensures the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all students and employees. Water and sanitation are essential to the health of people, it also addresses the issues relating to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene. Knowing that the University cater students which is most vulnerable from diseases associated with unsafe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene. A Microbiological Analysis of Water in the main source of water (deep-well and water pump) at UPHSL is quarterly done by Engineering Services Department. This is to ensure that the water serve in this University is clean and safe to use as well as to drink. The University of Perpetual Help System Laguna places great emphasis on environmental sustainability and the protection of water bodies as mandated by the Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004. By adhering to the regulations set forth in the act, the university is actively working towards minimizing pollution from land-based sources and ensuring the preservation of water quality for future generations. Their commitment to sustainable water and sanitation management extends beyond mere compliance, as they continuously address various issues related to drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene that affect the welfare of their students and employees. The Engineering Services Department at the University of Perpetual Help System Laguna plays a crucial role in upholding the standards set by the Philippine Clean Water Act. Through regular quarterly microbiological analyses of water sources, they are able to closely monitor the quality of water within the university premises and take proactive measures to address any issues that may arise.
