Upholding Fairness and Dignity at Work: UPHSL’s Commitment to Decent Labor Practices and Equality for All

The University of Perpetual Help System Laguna is proud of its dedication to creating a welcoming and encouraging community that celebrates variety and advances equality, working to provide a secure environment where each person can flourish and express themselves honestly. This dedication is evident in UPHSL’s labor practices, as it upholds a Policy on Pay Scale Equity that guarantees faculty, non-teaching staff, and support staff compensation is determined by objective factors such as experience and qualifications, specifically excluding personal traits like gender, race, or age. By acknowledging and working with the Faculty Association and the Employees’ Council to advance just labor practices and secure working conditions, UPHSL supports freedom of association and collective bargaining. The Faculty Association/Employee’s Council is a member of the designated appeals committee, ensuring transparency and a voice for all employees in resolving disputes. Additionally, the institution has a comprehensive, multi-step Employee Appeal Form and Process that enables employees to formally appeal decisions based on grounds like procedural error, bias or discrimination, and misinterpretation of policy. Last but not least, UPHSL upholds a Policy against Modern Slavery and mandates that outside contractors, such as the City Service Corporation for housekeeping services, follow all applicable labor laws and moral standards.
