Sports Facilities with the Local School or with the General Public

The University of Perpetual Help System Laguna (UPHSL) views its sports facilities not merely as a resource for its students but as a vital asset for the surrounding local community and schools, embodying a core commitment to well-being and social responsibility (SDG 3.3.3). This commitment is perhaps best demonstrated through its hosting of impactful community events.

A prime example of this community engagement is the 30th Special Olympics 2023, an inspiring event entitled "CN: Set forth into Adventure land". Organized by the University's College of Occupational Therapy, the Special Olympics was specifically designed to promote the empowerment of individuals with special needs through sports.

To ensure the success and safety of this meaningful occasion, the organizers secured the University of Perpetual Gymnasium as the central venue. The decision to use this facility was made because its accessibility and sports facilities made it an ideal location to host the planned sports activities, which included an exciting obstacle course and various other tasks.

The purpose of opening the gymnasium was to provide a safe and encouraging space for athletes from the local community and local schools to engage in meaningful sports experiences. The entire event was aimed at promoting inclusive, physical wellness, and a supportive community environment for all participants.

The gymnasium, alongside facilities like the UPHSL Swimming Pool, forms a crucial part of the university’s infrastructure that is extended to the general public. By sharing these spaces, UPHSL reinforces its role as a regional partner, actively fostering a culture of health, inclusion, and belonging that benefits not just its students, but the entire Laguna community.
