“There is immense power when a group of people with similar interests gets together to work toward the same goal.” – Idowu Koyenikan
The program’s main objective is to strengthen its scope through its full implementation with the help of the school’s prime stakeholders as part of the Deped’s National Learning Recovery Program which also corresponds to SDG No. 04 Quality Education by the UN
Once again, the University of Perpetual Help System Laguna, represented by its Community Outreach Department OIC, Ms. Clarisse Anne G. Lebios, convened with the New Barangay Sto. Niño, City of Biñan, Laguna.
The University of Perpetual Help System Laguna’s Community Outreach Department has actively supported local schools, fostering education and strengthening community bonds. Two significant events highlight our commitment: the “Catch-up Friday” activities at Dr. Jose G. Tamayo Memorial Elementary School on February 23, 2024, and Pedro H. Escueta Memorial School on March 1, 2024.
At Dr. Jose G. Tamayo Memorial Elementary School, our team distributed books generously donated by our students. The colorful array of books, ranging from children’s literature to academic resources, mirrored the diversity of knowledge we aimed to share. The excitement of students, teachers, and community members was palpable as they explored the literary treasures we brought. Documenting our efforts, we captured moments that highlighted the genuine connections forged between our university and the school community. The joy on the faces of the recipients reminded us of the profound impact small gestures can have on fostering a love for learning.
The Catch-up Fridays program at Pedro H. Escueta Memorial School was equally successful. We observed the school’s commitment to education through their curriculum and numerous reading spaces. Through this initiative, we provided a diverse collection of age-appropriate books, thanks to generous donations from sponsors and UPHSL students. This program fostered a sense of community among students, teachers, and volunteers, creating a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere.
In conclusion, both Catch-up Friday events were resounding successes, exemplifying our commitment to fostering education and supporting local communities. The enthusiasm and gratitude of the recipients reaffirmed the positive impact of these initiatives. By extending our outreach, we strengthened community bonds and shared knowledge. We express our heartfelt gratitude to all sponsors, volunteers, and school staff for their unwavering support. These programs stand as shining examples of how collective efforts can create a positive impact on young learners and strengthen community bonds. We look forward to continuing our efforts to make a meaningful difference.
